\n\nPresentation Title:<\/strong> Blockchain and Internet of Things (IoT): Concept, Context and Research\n

\n\nBiography: <\/strong> \nProfessor Syed Akhter Hossain joined as the Dean, School of Science and Engineering and Head,\nDepartment of Computer Science and Engineering at Canadian University of Bangladesh, one of the top leading and digital universities of Bangladesh on 1st<\/sup> January 2022.\n

\nPrior to joining Canadian University of Bangladesh, Professor Hossain served as the Professor and Head of\nthe Department of Computer Science and Engineering at ULAB from 1st January 2021 and Daffodil\nInternational University from 2010 to December, 2020. Apart from this, he contributed significantly at East\nWest University as Chairman of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department more than five\nyears and developed ERP and automations of the university. Professor Hossain obtained B.Sc. and M.Sc. in\nApplied Physics in 1989 and 1991 from Rajshahi University gradually. He obtained Gold medal for the first\nplace in faculty of Applied Science in the undergraduate. He earned Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and\nEngineering from the University of Dhaka on 2008 and completed his post-doctoral research in automation\nand artificial intelligence from Lumi\u00e8re University Lyon 2, France.\n

\nHe works closely with the ICT Division of the Ministry of Post, Telecommunication and IT of the\nGovernment of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh. He received several national and international awards\nfor his outstanding contribution in ICT education, innovative projects for the visually impaired people. He\nalso received other international awards for his scholastic works specially for the contribution of machine\ntranslator for Bangla Braille used by the visually impaired society. Besides, he received top researcher\ninternational recognition from ad scientific index in the year 2021 He received best researcher award in the\nyear 2019 and 2020from Daffodil International University. His current research interests include Machine\nLearning and AI with Natural Language Processing.\n

\nAs Erasmus Mundus post-doctoral fellow, he contributed in the area of Informatics and Industrial\nEngineering with University Lumiere Lyon 2 in France. During the time period of 2010 to 2020 at Daffodil\nInternational University, he transformed the Department of Computer Science and Engineering with several\nmileage from a small size to a size very big of today. During this timeframe from 2010 to 2020, he\ndeveloped core competency of CSE students in competitive programming, developed research goal and\nachieved a significant ranking of the department in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and other research\narea engaging students in research, relentlessly worked to empower students and teachers of the department,\nconnecting to industry including ICT division, BHTPA, BASIS, BACCO, ISPAB all relevant industries\nincluding ITEE of Japan, created massive collaborations among other Asian and European universities and\nfull blown vibrations in the education of CSE, achieved accreditations for the CSE program twice and\nperform significantly in transforming students and teachers into professionals of the 21st century. In this\ntimeframe he also established core concept of CSE alumni integration in the department and strong\nfoundation of co-curricular activities of students in Computer and Programming Club (CPC) and Girls\nComputing Programming Club (GCPC) which helped the phenomenal growth of the department of today. He\nhosted many national and ACM ICPC regional programming contests as contest director. He has more than\n30 years of working experience in industry, education, research and training. He is actively involved in\nresearch guidance\/ research projects\/ research collaborations with Institutes\/ Industries and has more than\n250 publications\/ presentations and his work is listed in ACM, DBLP, IEEE Explore and other research\ndatabases.\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
